CALL FOR PAPERS
SECOND WORLD CONGRESS
OF THE
WORLD SOCIETY OF MIXED JURISDICTION JURISTS
The second international conference of the World Society of Mixed Jurisdiction Jurists will be held from 27 to 30 June 2007 at the University of Edinburgh.
The WSMJJ welcomes the submission of proposals for papers to be delivered as 20-minute talks at the above-mentioned conference. Proposals should be two pages (500 words) with a one-page curriculum vitae and should be submitted by email before 31 March 2006 to the General Secretary of the WSMJJ, Prof. Jacques du Plessis, University of Stellenbosch (Jacques du Plessis <jedp@sun.ac.za>). Notification of acceptance will be no later than 30 June 2006. The topics, which should be addressed from a comparative perspective, taking into account the position in at least two mixed jurisdictions, are as follows:
1. Different views on what constitutes a mixed legal system
2. Mixed legal systems and European legal development
3. (Re)codification of civil law in mixed legal systems
4. Property
5. Iniuria/defamation and other infringements of personality rights
6. Criminal law
7. Contract and commercial law
